Center vented screws are the original product in UC Components’ RediVac® line. Center vent screws are the fasteners of choice for high production processes in vacuum. Our center vented screws are available in a range of Inch and metric sizes, and with an array of specialty finishes to help prevent galling.
Why A Vented Screw?
A UC Components center vented screw provides a path for trapped air and surface contaminants such as water to be pumped away from blind-tapped holes. This enables faster, more efficient pump-down of HV, UHV, and EUV systems and eliminates virtual leaks* and potential contaminants found in these voids. Installing RediVac® vented screws promotes greater system throughput and improved yield.
A center vent screw has a hole drilled through its axis to expose trapped volumes of gas at the bottom of a tapped hole. Installing a center vented screw is a simple process requiring no special tools or tricks—it installs just like a standard, non-vented screw and is most effective when used in conjunction with a vented flat washer.
* A virtual leak is a source of gas that is trapped physically within the chamber with only a small, very low-conductance path from the trapped pocket of gas into the chamber proper.
